this is my new website and it is under construction. in fact, it will always be under construction. that's what i like about it. i will be adding things to it all the time so be sure to keep checking back. and thanks in the first place if you're even reading this!
i've started a blues band called THE NUDE POPES and we play every tuesday nite at SPEEDY ROMEO in brooklyn. 6-10pm
dave phelps plays guitar and sings. mike lavolpe, drums and i play bass. it's rib nite at speedy romeo. the chef-owner, justin bazderich, is a personal friend of my wife's and it's been great to get to know him. he catered our wedding party. my family still talks about the food. dude is a bad-ass, for reals, even though he got chopp'd on chopp'd. he just forgot to garnish some dish. wtf? anyway.... c'mon down.
new gig just added: the dred scott trio plays brubeck, april 29, at smalls 7:30pm spencer murphy, bass bill campbell, drums
continuing to work on producing THE FORMER MEMBERS recording we tracked in san fran last month. ben rubin mixing. every cat in the band played at monterey pop in '67. bruce barthol and david cohen were w/ COUNTRY JOE AND THE FISH, roy blumenthal w/ THE BLUES PROJECT and greg douglas w/ THE STEVE MILLER BAND, LINK WRAY, HOT TUNA and VAN MORRISON. it's sounding good. should be out in the next month or so.
speaking of san fran...the sf jazz ctr has opened at franklin and fell and what do you know, they put my name on the bldg right above chris botti and right below dave holland. you can also see donny mccaslin's last name in the photo, an sf sax legend and super great cat. it is truly an honor.
and since september and till further notice i play solo piano on a beautiful steinway m at del posto in chelsea thurs- sun, 7-11pm.
it is the country's only 4-star italian restaurant, lidia and joe bastianich/mario bitali, owners.
